A Record of Excellence and Service

Dear Dallas County Voters,

Since I first took the bench in January of 2011, I made it my singular goal to oversee a court that would earn a reputation as fair, transparent, and efficient, where cases move along in a timely manner, and all parties feel they have been heard and are treated with respect.

The 116th Civil District court handles civil matters, such as personal injury cases and complex commercial litigation. I brought a strong background in civil law to the bench, but also a commitment to good management practices. When I took office, my staff and I created a plan of action to clear out backlogged cases. We worked with tremendous diligence to bring as many matters as possible to closure. We went from a court with the worst docket and the largest number of pending cases to a court that consistently ranks among the most efficient in dispositions, rulings, and the administration of trials.

I have also worked very hard to be the best jurist I can be. I was very honored to be named the "Trial Judge of the Year" in 2015 by the Dallas Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a large group of distinguished trial attorneys from both sides of the docket who work to improve the legal profession and protect the right to trial by jury.

I was also proud to have the court's hard work rewarded with an approval rating of more than 90% in both the 2013 and 2015 Dallas Bar Association Judicial Evaluation Poll. My colleagues have twice elected me to serve as Presiding Judge of the Civil District Courts, in 2016 and 2017.

Before I ever became a judge, I was actively involved in the community as a volunteer, serving on boards, and mentoring young people. I continue to work in the community as a judge, and I find it to be one of the most rewarding ways to spend my time.

Without question, I wake up every day thankful for the opportunity to serve and to use my legal training to make a difference in my community. I ask for your support as I seek a third term. Please read more about me here and get involved in the reelection campaign.

I look forward to serving you.

Sincerely,

Judge Tonya Parker
